Episode 4

This week on the show we meet Miss Mongolia, the lovely Undarmaa. She’s very friendly and beautiful and she even taught Dave and Bolor how to walk like beauty queens. We really enjoyed having her on the show.

I’m very sorry, but we don’t have a new lesson for you yet, because we were celebrating Australia Day yesterday (Friday the 26th of Jan). Rest assured I do have something for you; a listening lesson to accompany the pictures that show the parts of the body. Look and listen here: http://voiceboxtv.org/index.php/2007/01/18/the-body/

Expect more listening lessons soon.

We had lots of fun for Australia Day. A group of us young Australians went to School #70 to play some games, sing some songs and talk to the kids about Australia. They were great! Then we went and played cricket in Sukhbaatar Square. Cricket is a very popular sport in Australia, and lots of people play cricket on Australia Day.

Action & Movement Verbs

The following is a one page comic I made, which might be useful for learning some verbs (doing words). I have labeled the actions, or verbs in each picture.

Listen to the lesson here: action_movement.mp3 lipsthumb.gif

Some other useful movement or action verbs include to walk (to places), to ride (a horse or a bicycle), to drive (a car), to skate (on ice), to climb (up or over things), to swim (in a pool) and to dance (to music).

I usually walk to work. If I’m in a hurry I sometimes run, but if I’m feeling very tired or lazy, I take a taxi. How do you travel to work or school? Do you walk? Do you ride the bus?

I like to run and to swim for excercise. I like to draw and paint and listen to music for fun. Movies and television are good for entertainment. What things do you like to do?

Inventions

Because our special guest this week was Uugana, the radio DJ from Info Radio 105.5, and because radio was such an important invention, we thought this week’s lesson could be about inventions.

Here is the script for episode 2. Our interview with Nomin was not scripted, so doesn’t appear in the script, but the rest is there. We hope you like it.

We’re all settled in now and you can look forward many more shows and lots of new things on this website. If you check out the lessons section, you will find a new lesson about greetings.

On the show this week, we met Nomin, a former contortionist, who told us all about contortion. She was great!

SV300027

Dave also demonstrated his own contortion trick which you can learn to do at home by reading the tutorial in our Fun and Games section.

Dave’s Trick

Now you can try Dave’s trick at home, by downloading and following the tutorial below. All you need is a long stick or pole (a broomstick or pool cue is ideal) and some courage. Just be careful to warm up first, because it can be quite hard.
